Running Linux (SuSE 8.0) on a PCG-NV 105 notebook


This documentation just describes my experience. If anything you read here works for you - fine. If not, don't blame me. There is absolutely no guarantee, that the information given here works for you and that it will not damage your laptop (maybe permanently) and maybe not only your laptop.

However, I do hope you find this page usefull. If you have any comments about this page, additional information about Linux on the Sony PCG-NV 105, information regarding the issues I wasn't able to resolve, please send me an email.



Changed the whole internet site. The notebook still running with SuSE 8.2 and everything is working. Stuff not tested: Fire Wire and Modem.

SuSE 8.1 Linux is running very good on the notebook
Bluetooth is working (Acer USB Bluetooth adapter with Siemens S55 mobile)
Wireless LAN is working as well (Netgear MA401 PCMCIA card + D-Link DWL-900+ access\\ point)


Changed root file system from ext3 to reiserfs


Added hardware info and 3D support info


Finally applied ACPI patch 20020726
